The latest book, written by Mary Goulet, Reveille in Hot Springs, addresses issues regarding the closing of the VA facility in the small rural town of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Cascade of Flames
Mary's second book, Cascade of Flames, details the devastating fire which struck Alabaugh Canyon, in the Southern Black Hills of South Dakota, on the evening of July 7, 2007. Often called "The Fire of 7-7-7" Mary details the disastrous affects this fire had, not only on her and her husband's property, but also on the lives of many others living in the canyon and those who valiantly battled against the fire which claimed so many homes and destroyed acre after acre of land. A Not So Simple Life: Our Return to Rustic Roots
While "Living off the Grid" is not what most would choose during their retirement years, Mary, along with her husband, enjoyed their time living in the home which they had built "off the grid." After personally building a beautiful home which they powered using solar panels and a wind generator, water came from a cistern, and fun came from their furry friends, llamas and cats.
